Thousands "Meet the Thought Leaders" at ANU Open Day

An atmosphere of anticipation and excitement filled the air as thousands flocked to the ANU campus for ANU Open Day on Saturday 30 August. The Canberra sun shone brightly, showcasing the best that ANU and its surrounds has to offer.
Star academics delivered presentations on various study options to packed lecture theatres, the main hall was buzzing with enquiries, and Union Court was a hub of food, music, information stalls and performances.
The School of Art had prints for sale, live glass blowing demonstrations, workshop tours, and more. The School of Music featured academic ‘speed dating’, lots of performances, ambient live music, and tours to give our visitors a taste of what it’s like to study at ANU.
The real star of Open Day was Etta, a blue rubber duck and default mascot for the University (pictured). Etta, meaning Australian wood duck in Latin, popped up on social media throughout the day as part of an Instagram competition, partaking in activities all over campus. Winners of the competition were rewarded with a highly sought-after ANU hoodie.
The success of ANU Open Day proved the best way to experience ANU is to visit and immerse yourself in the world class knowledge and expertise of our staff, the fun, friendly nature of our students, and the beautiful surroundings of nature on campus in Australia’s bush capital.
